Utilising SMES-FCL to improve the transient behaviour of a doubly fed induction generator DC wind system

Wind energy is seen as one of the main pillars renewable energy. However, intermittent nature these sources still poses a major challenge. Moreover, sensitivity to grid faults and response load changes are also concerns. Superconducting devices have been introduced solve storage problems associated with sources. Nevertheless, cost superconducting materials was drawback for their application in power grids. In this paper, novel electronics circuit used connect magnetic (SMES) DC system based on doubly fed induction generator wind turbine. The proposed merges function fault current limiting into device which referred SMES-FCL paper. role played by studied under various scenarios that may affect whole system. study carried MATLAB/SIMULINK where simulated standalone grid-connected modes. end, control tested small-scale experimentally.
